International Day of Yoga or Yog Divas also commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on June 21 since its inception in 2015. An international day for yoga was declared by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014, almost unanimously.Yoga is a physical, mental, and/ or spiritual practice attributed mostly to India.
The exact history and origins of yoga is still uncertain, it is believed that the beginnings of Yoga were developed by the Indus-Sarasvati civilization in Northern India over 5,000 years ago.
Yoga is more than mastering postures and increasing your flexibility and strength.The traditional purpose of Yoga, however, has always been to bring about a profound transformation in the person through the transcendence of the ego.
Modern yoga is based on five basic principles that were created by Swami Sivananda.

  • Proper breathing
  • Proper diet
  • Positive thinking and meditation
